Supply Chain Summer Student

The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.

The Canadian Light Source is currently recruiting for a Supply Chain Summer Student within the Finance Department. Reporting to the Supply Chain Services Coordinator, this position will be a full-time summer position starting on Monday, May 1st and concluding on Thursday, August 31st or as discussed with the direct supervisor.

Position Summary:

• Prepares shipping documents and mailing/shipping labels (including custom, broker, and dangerous goods shipment protocols). Transmits shipping information to vendors and maintains records.
• Provides assistance with the coordination and control of CLS inventory, including verifying and entering stock cards.
• Monitors inventory stock items and supplies to ensure that on-hand items are kept at predetermined levels and removal of items no longer required.
• Verifies system counts against physical count of stock and adjusts errors, or investigates and reports reasons for discrepancies.
• Updating item descriptions within the inventory database. Physically moving or transferring items within Stores.
• Monitors the door for deliveries to the loading dock, physically receives goods delivered to the CLS and receives goods in the finance system. Verifies contents of incoming shipments against accompanying waybill or invoice and routes items to the proper department or stockroom.
• Operates a forklift to transport goods and materials throughout the facility.
• Assists with day-to-day Purchasing, as required.
• Provides support with data entry, as required.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a business program (Edwards School of Business, Saskatoon Business College, etc.)
• Ability to work within a group and independently
• Students must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office including Excel)
• Strong attention to detail

Remuneration:Remuneration is consistent with the University of Saskatchewan Undergraduate Student Assistant Rates.
