Eskimo Point Lumber Supply is currently looking for a Superintendent, Maintenance and Services to join our Maintenance and Service team in Rankin Inlet, NU!

The Superintendent is responsible for coordinating all site activities and supervising field personnel and contractors as required. This includes identifying the needed materials, tools and resources, scheduling, site safety and monitoring the schedule and budget.

The incumbent will also work closely with other internal staff and clients to identify potential challenges prior to and during site work and helping to develop solutions and make necessary adjustments. This includes keeping all involved parties up to date on work progress.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Estimate project labor and material requirements
• Schedule proper trade staffing levels are onsite each day to ensure work is completed
• Ensure that proper materials, tools and equipment are onsite
• Direct, coach, mentor and evaluate staff
• Deal on a daily basis with the subcontractors, suppliers, clients and the community
• Monitor and report progress against established construction project schedules
• Document, distribute and resolve deficiencies
• Oversee cost control on jobs, including discretionary spending, inventory control, handling and storage of major materials
• Represent the company for on-site inspections, client visits, etc.
• Ensure the overall safety of workers onsite by performing regular checks and inspections
• Coordinate and supervise site activities within the guidelines of quality procedures and standards
• Communicate regularly with Project Management to update on the status of jobs and identify any extra work
• Work closely with the support office in Winnipeg to ensure that information is being relayed efficiently and accurately
• Collaborate with internal business partners to make work processes more efficient and create higher value for external customers

Qualifications

• Extensive field experience in maintenance and construction
• Red seal trade certification is an asset
• Experience leading teams and developing employees
• A demonstrated track record of dealing successfully with trades and stakeholders
• Diplomatic with highly effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Strong communicator in verbal, written and electronic form
• Excellent problem-solving ability
• Must have a strong work ethic, be reliable with a positive team attitude
• Adaptable with the ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure
