At Dillon, you will be working as part of a growing team of dynamic and collaborative software engineers, developers and data analysts, interacting and building software-based solutions to a wide range of internal clients.

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Software Development (97%)
  • Work directly with Business Stakeholders to transform business needs and objectives into innovative software-based solutions that are well-designed to accept future developments
  • Either individually or in conjunction with other IT Solutions team members, own the design, development, testing and implementation of new software tools and systems
  • Identify and drive opportunities to optimize and evolve existing applications and systems
  • Establish effective relationships with users and business leads; recommend the use of IT Solutions services and skills to build new business capabilities or improve operational efficiencies
  • Manage core aspects of project delivery including scope, resources, work package prioritization, and issues management, with concepts of minimum viable product and value added principle in mind
  • Participate in the ongoing evolution of IT Solutions processes, toolsets, and technologies Identify and develop new business opportunities

Learning & Development (3%)
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Actively mentor team members and foster collaborative atmosphere by providing technical feedback on ongoing work, establishing and influencing best practices for software quality, development methodologies and processes

Qualifications

What will you need to succeed
  • Post-secondary education in software engineering, computer science, or comparable combination of education and work experience in software development
  • High degree of proficiency in at least one non-scripting language, front-end or back-end focused
  • Strong knowledge of .NET MVC architecture and modern web-based technologies including jQuery, Bootstrap, Web API, etc.

Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in prototyping, designing and delivering software solutions
  • 3+ years of experience with SQL Server database development, including data modeling, query and stored procedure design
  • Demonstrated experience delivering technology projects directly with business stakeholders
  • Proven ability to clearly and effectively communicate issues and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Desire to learn and use new technologies and methodologies

Distinct Assets include:
  • Experience with data analysis, data aggregation, and/or data visualization
  • Experience with UNIX scripting and development
  • Personal GitHub repository showing evidence of progression and skill development
