Description:

The objective of this position is succession planning for our Process Engineering Team. We currently have an excellent Process Team Leader who will be advancing their career to a new position within the company. We envision the transition process to be 6-12 months depending on the individual.

We are seeking either a Senior Process Engineer with interest and capability to advance to a Team Lead position over time, or an experienced Process Team Leader. Prior water industry experience is not required, however deep technical understanding of process engineering, the tools employed, and effective management techniques are important.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Learn about Saltworks products, processes, and Saltworks’ specific value-add, in order to deliver advanced water treatment plants
  • Contribute to and lead process designs for water treatment plants. Tasks will include: establishing design basis, developing mathematical models or running off-the-shelf software, generating PFDs and P&IDs, mass and energy balance, and equipment sizing and selection
  • Coordinate with other disciplines for successful delivery of design-build-commission projects for full-scale water treatment plants
  • Manage pilot projects and interface with customers and other technical audiences. This will include drafting test plans, supervising testing and analysis of data, and communicating technical results
  • Contribute to continuous technology innovation and support improvements on engineering workflow processes
  • Occasional field and site work in customer facing environments
  • Contribute to innovation and technology development at Saltworks, if this area is of interest
  • If the role transitions to a Team Lead position, added tasks will include: leading and inspiring a team of highly capable process engineers, generating work plans, balancing priorities and resource requirements, supporting recruitment and retention of key team members, communicating risks and opportunities to senior management

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • An interest in taking on a leadership position and increased managerial duties
  • Relevant degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with process experience
  • High aptitude in process design with a strong mathematical and chemistry background (we largely practice inorganic water chemistry)
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduation experience completing process or chemical engineering in industrial settings (design, testing, operations)
  • Experience developing P&IDs using AutoCAD P&ID or similar
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Hands-on tooling and troubleshooting skills (not essential, yet beneficial if you like this type of work)
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, maintain high quality of work and quickly learn new skills
  • Positive attitude, can-do approach, and willingness to roll up your sleeves and pitch in as required
