G Mining is one of the most important consulting firms in mining engineering in Quebec, and among the major firms renowned for international projects.

In order to pursue its development, G Mining is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Piping Technician / Designer

Summary of responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Mechanical Department Lead, the Piping Technician/Designer will be part of the team dedicated to the design and development of mining project. The incumbent of this position will be performing the following activities.

• Prepare process plant piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) in collaboration with the instrumentation department
• Develop material and equipment lists according to process characteristics in a database
• Model piping in 2D and 3D
• Provide support in reviewing the 3D model to resolve discrepancies and design issues
• Incorporate comments into the 3D model and provide support to resolve model conflicts
• Develop 2D isometrics from the 3D model
• Participate in the estimation and calculation of material quantities required for projects

Requirements:

The person we are looking for must have a technical degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with experience in the mining industry. A good knowledge of drawing software such as Plant 3D and AutoCAD and programming software is an important asset. The candidate must have a good knowledge of French and English, both oral and written. Most of the work will be done in Brossard at the G Mining Services’ offices and occasionally it will be possible to make site visits in Canada and abord depending on the needs of the project.

The successful candidate must have good analytical skills and process synthesis and be able to work well in a team. He/she must be rigorous, attentive to detail and have a strong sense of quality. The ideal candidate must also have a good sense of organization, be autonomous, be able to work under pressure and show a great adaptability.
