Are you an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professional ready to take your career to the next level? Come and work at STEMCELL Technologies, the largest biotech company in Canada!

In this position, you will be the Environmental, Health and Safety representative for construction/ renovation projects in the Lower Mainland and also provide support to colleagues for global projects (as needed). In addition, you would oversee the contractor safety/ orientation process for these projects. You will also help to put in place the security program at STEMCELL Technologies, and assist to set a standard for a global security program for the company.

Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders in training, interpretation, and application of internal and regional health and safety regulations

  • Write EHS policies, standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and work instructions to meet EHS legislative requirements, and ensure EHS documentation is completed to support company due diligence in ensuring the safety of employees

  • Support and provide guidance on safety inspections, and assist in the investigation of hazard and incident reports to provide recommendations to address safety concerns

  • Develop and deliver health and safety training for employees as required and collaborate with the EHS team to monitor safety compliance and identify safety issues

  • Work independently with limited supervision and collaborate with others on key initiatives/ projects

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Occupational Health & Safety diploma/degree and/or a degree in a relevant field (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Hygiene, etc.) with 6- 7 years of relevant work experience

  • Effectively manage and lead EHS projects and initiatives

  • Strong communication and problem solving skills

  • Exposure to renovation construction projects is a plus
