Job Purpose
Perform a professional accounting process involving compilation, consolidation and analysis of financial data for the business unit that comply with existing corporate financial policies and regulations. Work within an agreed plan and support / coach junior team members. Ensure that reporting is correct, timely and compliant to procedures and legislation, identify any shortcomings and recommend improvements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Apply accounting practices and techniques to the classification and recording of data
Compile and analyse financial information and provide commentary and explanation on items of particular significance
Prepare analyse and compose reports as required eg Income statement, balance sheets, cost reports
Prepare annual budget submission
Contribute to the development of accounting policies, procedures and guidelines for the business unit
Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger in a timely manner
Monitor service projects and ensure matching revenue and cost of goods sold
Work with operations team to generate accurate financial statements
Perform margin analysis for service business
Review, analyze and recommend internal labor rates on a timely basis
Prepare and review journal entries
Perform monthly Income Statement review and analysis
Prepare monthly lead-sheet analysis and follow up on corrections as necessary

Assist with budget process for Service group
Provide guidance to AP team and review coding
Identifies and initiates process improvements
Assist with various projects as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5th year enrollment in the CPA program or equivalent education; designation preferred
- Minimum 4 years progressive work experience in an accounting role (manufacturing or project accounting backgrounds preferred)
- Willingness to dig into details; inquisitive in pursuing further understanding/clarity on behind-the-scenes workings with own initiative
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
- Proven ability to drive behavioural and process changes with stakeholder groups
- Experience working in a large ERP
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; opened communication style
- Working knowledge of word processing software and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
General Job Requirements
- This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime.
