Job Description

The De Beers Canada has an exciting opportunity to join the Protective Services team at De Beers Canada. The Protective Services team protects the integrity of our people, processes, product, and information for our Canadian Mining Operations situated in the Northwest Territories, Northern Ontario and Nunavut. To achieve this, the Protective Services Official Centre (PSOC), located in Yellowknife, NWT provides intelligence, investigational, administrative support, and guidance to the Protective Services Operational Teams.

Reporting to the Protective Services PSOC & Assurance Supervisor, the primary role of the Protective Services Security Clearance Administrator provides direct support to the PSOC & Assurance Supervisor position by providing the timely and accurate processing of site security clearances for the Gahcho Kue Mine, Snap Lake Mine, Victor Mine, Chidliak Project and the DBCI Corporate Office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain software systems to minimize clearance-processing time and to facilitate accurate records to meet or exceed audit standards;
  • Provide on-going assessment of clearance documents, policies, and systems to align with changing business needs;
  • Work closely with and be guided by direction from the PSA on matters relative to the security pre-employment and in-employment screening program;
  • Review criminal history information and determine candidate access suitability by consistently applying relevant company policies and making sound decisions;
  • Draft routine correspondence quickly and accurately and provide administrative support as deemed necessary;
  • Facilitate Right of Entry (ROE) for all mines, projects site and offices. Manage site access compliance;
  • Ensure compliance with PIPEDA, Privacy policies and observe document retention and destruction periods.
  • Utilize the departmental Incident Report System – Resolver Perspective as required;
  • Conduct detailed background investigations when applicable;
  • Manage Secure Document Control System;
  • Work with the Protective Services Surveillance Intelligence Analysts to identify persons of risk; and
  • Attend the courthouse to perform open-source information searches as required of the NT court registry databases.

This position reports to the Protective Security Official Supervisor and is based out of the Yellowknife office working full-time Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • Proven proficiency in office management procedures and protocols including document control and data entry;
  • Ability to effectively resolve problems and make sound decisions with minimal supervision;
  • Experience in the security industry or law enforcement or equivalent would an asset;
  • Knowledge of relevant security legislation including PIPEDA, Criminal Code of Canada, Human Rights would be an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and professional skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member; and
  • Safety reporting and investigation would be an asset.
