Position Summary

The Project Manager, PMO collaborates with all departments in the development and implementation of Canadian Supply Chain capital strategies and our manufacturing transformation objectives. This role delivers sustainable operational improvements in safety, quality and productivity by leading and managing strategic initiatives and teams with a focus on verification of deliverables and action items necessary to complete the projects at hand.

In addition, the candidate should have proven interpersonal and relationship building skills within the PMO team and with other business units. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.

To be successful in the role the candidate must be willing to take ownership of tasks and to complete them from inception to final deployments.

The candidate maybe tasked with the following types of projects.
  • Develop and deploy the strategy for an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) system in Canada.
  • Leading the process mapping for production lines and making recommendations to make improvements (technology, people, automation or process) and follow through with the recommendations with the larger team.
  • Utilizing new or existing data to determine root causes for large system related inefficiencies make recommendations and work to improve them (Continuous Improvement type initiatives).
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management (70%)
  • Conceptualize and evaluate the feasibility of new Capital and Manufacturing Transformation Projects realizing cost savings, improvements in safety & ergonomics along with an overall drive for innovation and continuous process improvement.
  • Drive the business case development process from start to finish. Including developing project scope, budget/resource estimated and cost justifications necessary for project approval.
  • Develop an effective communication strategy to all project stakeholders.
  • Investigate vendors, obtain proposals and award contracts, manage project cash flows (i.e. issue purchaser orders, maintain track of spending, conform to approved project budgets).
  • Conduct and effectively close out all deficiencies/observations on pre-start reviews.
  • Ensure accurate and timely execution of all PMO Projects. Provide ongoing feedback, as to the execution and spending status to Project Stakeholders and Senior Management.
  • Ensure all Projects are closed in accordance with designated timelines.
  • Develop standardized PMO processes to aid in execution of projects. These processes can include templated, communications structure, governance models etc.
  • Manufacturing Transformation and Digitization (30%)
  • Establish and execution of PMO objectives in support of all identified sites and Corporate Goals and objectives.
  • Drive the design and implementation of upgrades to outdated systems and machinery, by expanding the use of PLC, digitization, and automation throughout the site.
  • Demonstrated passion and experience with at least 2 of the following
    • Experience with the design and implementation of upgrades to equipment, by expanding the use of PLC, digitization, and automation throughout the site.
    • Experience in systems and process mapping for comprehensive manufacturing sites
    • Demonstrated ability of utilizing various advanced data analytics to solve multidimensional manufacturing process issues
    • Experience with continuous improvement initiatives around the manufacturing site
    • Utilization of change management principles and process to drive performance onsite
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and convey complex messages and topics to various audiences ranging from senior management to production floor
  • Maintain highest level of awareness of latest equipment and technologies, by means of benchmarking, seminars and trade shows.
Qualifications

EducationBachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business

Experience5-10 years in manufacturing or supply chain environments.

Licenses / CertificationsPMP preferred

Additional Job SpecificationsProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; professional communication skills and proven leadership capabilities; demonstrated successful project management capabilities in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
