NAPCO, a Westlake company, is a leading polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe manufacturer in North America. Founded in 1992, NAPCO manufactures a broad range of gasketed, solvent welded, and restrained joint pipes for a diverse range of markets including municipal water and sewer, residential plumbing, water well, agricultural irrigation, turf and mining. NAPCO offers a broad range of standard and specialty piping, and fittings; including brands such as Certa-Lok®, Yelomine®, Certa-Set® and Certa-Flo®.

Our Abbotsford, BC plant is looking for a Production Superintendent. This position is responsible for leading all production personnel and efforts to ensure we meet operational key performance indicators and in implementing continuous improvement plans related to efficiency, quality and talent development.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment specifically oversees the safety within the production area
• Directs hourly personnel and manufacturing operations
• Provide technical leadership to shift personnel, to include: line setup/operation, metrics definition/reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and training facilitation
• Direct personnel management initiatives to include: recruiting, hiring, attendance tracking, safety training/reporting, employee performance reviews, counseling and corrective action, and development/retention
• Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and equipment to dictate efficient workflow
• Delegate responsibility and recognize, develop, train and utilize talents and capabilities of all shift personnel
• Partner with engineering, maintenance, quality and innovations departments to ensure all quality standards, practices, testing and metrics are administered and adhered to
• Facilitate safety training and complete all incident investigations and reporting
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as scrap reduction initiatives and quality/innovations
• Represents production in company meetings
• Successfully complete professional development initiatives and promote developmental opportunities to shift personnel
• Spearhead projects, as needed and/or assigned, that solve current business problems and /or directly contribute to long-term business objectives
• Available for on-call 24/7 and during emergency situations
  

Experience And Skills

• You have a minimum of 5 years of PVC extrusion manufacturing experience
• You have secondary education with an emphasis on technical competencies
• Recognized leader who leads by example
• You have knowledge and experience in material control, engineering, quality and maintenance
• You have a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies
• Excel in planning, executing and managing projects
• You have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate upwardly to top management and downward to a wide range of audiences
• You have experience using JDE
