Overall Purpose:
The Process Engineer contributes to the development and implementation of manufacturing technologies and best practices in McCain fry plants, through the start-up and commissioning of new equipment throughout the manufacturing organization.

• Lead commissioning, qualification, and verification activities for technical service group as a member of Capital Execution and Start up Management teams
• Contributes to vertical project start up
• Supports the Hand-off transition between functions to ensure projects deliver against the business case

Key Accountabilities:

• Deliver vertical start-up of projects using the Start-up Management processes for equipment
  • • Identify opportunities to incorporate new technologies and best practices to optimize profitable growth
    • Read, interpret and create process narratives from P&ID’s
    • Trouble-shoot mechanical, electrical and automation issues throughout commissioning of equipment
    • Provide hands on training of operators for new process equipment
• Monitor and drive factory performance and support plants to sustain and make continuous improvement against key manufacturing targets to deliver Sustainable Cost Advantage (SCA)
  • • Support the development, implementation and sustainment of McCain best operating practices
    • Collect, organize and statistically analyse data to solve operational challenges and drive improvements
    • Support the development of new manufacturing technologies that drive continuous improvement in our facilities
    • Network / collaborate through the technical services organization to contribute to future best practices and equipment standards that support SCA
    • Coordinate efforts between plants to share processing knowledge and improvements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Food Science or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing
• Strong technical aptitude, mechanical/electrical engineering, and/or plant automation

• Ability to understand process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and process narratives
• Knowledge of processing equipment, processing methods, manufacturing philosophies and basic manufacturing SOP’s
• Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills
• Problem solving skills
• Ability to travel up to 20-50%
