Department Overview

Emergency Call Handling is the critical interface for the citizen into the command center, public safety workflow. Motorola Solution’s is the leading software developer and solution provider for Emergency Call Handling, the software that enables 911 centers to receive and process calls in Public Safety Answering Points across North America. The Emergency Call Handling solution team is one business sleeve of the Motorola Solutions Software Enterprise where innovation of workflow enhancements are being developed for call handling, incident management, responder dispatching and situational awareness. This software developer position will be a member of the team working on software applications for Public Safety Agencies.

Job Description

We are seeking smart, self-motivated, enthusiastic software developers to help us design and deliver our call taking solutions. Ideal candidates must be good at solving problems and seeking to improve processes in innovative ways. To be successful in this role you must value teamwork and communication as well as working closely with other developers in small, dynamic, Agile teams. As a Software Developer in this role, you must be adept at learning new technologies quickly. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality code for a multi-tenant public safety application mainly using Java and Web technologies in agile scrum development teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics or similar
• Practical knowledge of Java/Web development ecosystem
• 0 - 5 years of experience in Software Development
• Understanding of object oriented coding and design
• Willingness to learn and interest in the above mentioned technologies
• Fast learner with good communications skills
• Advanced level of English (both written and oral)
• Able to troubleshoot and debug issues
• Basic networking knowledge
• Basic analysis, unit testing, and exploratory testing knowledge

Nice-to-have requirements:

• Practical knowledge of one or more of the following technologies (at least on a basic level): Springboot and/or Quarkus framework, RabbitMQ, NATS, REST, REDIS, ETCD
• Understanding about microservice/SOA development
• Understanding of Agile Scrum
• Experience with DevOps / Continuous Integration environment
• Experience with collaborating with multiple distributed teams to develop and integrate software
• Experience of working in a Linux or/and Windows environment
