Job Description

A Prep Cook is an essential part of any kitchen and is responsible for food preparation & assembly which then allows the Chefs to maximize their time cooking food.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Chopping & peeling fruits and vegetables
• Seasoning and preparing the necessary ingredients for cooking
• Assembling some dishes such as salads or prepared meals
• Following basic recipes that require little to no cooking
• Keeping the kitchen clean and orderly
• Maintaining stock and inventory counts
• Anticipating what the chefs may need at any given point and offering assistance
• Washing cutlery and dishes
• Sweeping & Mopping
• Other assigned duties as required

Prep Cook skills and qualifications

• Ability to work under pressure
• Excellent English verbal communication and reading skills
• Strong organizational skills
• In-depth knowledge of kitchen health and safety requirements
• Food Handler Certification
• In-depth knowledge of safe food storage guidelines
• Ability to use kitchen utensils safely
• Ability to take direction and work as a team player
