We currently have a Regular Part-time (0.5 FTE)opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technologistin our Hematological Pathology Department at our BayviewCampus.

Hours of Work: Weekdays & Weekends: Days; Evenings; Nights; 8 hrs; As per schedule, On-Call and Statutory Holidays Required


Summary of Duties:

Hematology and Coagulation Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) activities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical, scientific education, and supportive services to assist in the provision of patient care.
  • Performs routine automated and manual testing in Haematology, Coagulation, and verifies/interprets laboratory results.
  • It is essential to promote activities that enhance best practice for quality of service and a safe working environment.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Current C.M.L.T.O. Registration as a General Medical Laboratory Technologist
  • Recent Haematology experience required.
  • Recent Morphology experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical knowledge in Haematology and Coagulation.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge of Quality Control theory and its application in troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the Organization.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team and independently as required.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Flexibility/adaptability required.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and middleware preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of CQI.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices.
  • Knowledge of IQMH and Accreditation Canada Diagnostics.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Proficiency in WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint required.
