Position Summary:

The Marketing and Communications Analyst is a key contributor of the Communications, Marketing and Economic Development Team. This role helps to deliver on the marketing, events, and communications strategies for the Town using a variety of channels and tactics. Reporting to the Manager, Communications, Marketing and Economic Development, the position is a critical member of our small but strong team.

As the successful candidate you bring experience as part of a marketing, communications and/or event planning team. Experience in municipal government is an asset. You are ambitious, creative and innovative with social media and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. You welcome the opportunity to be part of a municipal organization focused on continuing the development of our community.

Duties will generally include:

  • Support the development of strategic, multi-faceted marketing campaigns that support the objectives set out in Town of Strathmore strategic plans
  • Prepare communications and marketing materials including print and digital advertising and promotional collateral, media releases, presentations, and content for corporate communication channels including Strathmore.ca webpages and social media
  • Proactively work with the Communications Team to encourage regular updates from all Town departments on public-facing projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Optimize content for a web user experience through the arranging, editing, and styling of multimedia content that reflects and meets brand standards
  • Create and/or curate interesting images, photos, and videos for highly visual social media platforms
  • Monitor Town of Strathmore social media accounts and other digital media; respond promptly and appropriately to comments, fostering engagement and promoting productive and thought-provoking discussion
  • Identify and escalate social community feedback, issues, and trends for the purpose of improving our followers’ overall brand experience
  • Coordinate Town of Strathmore organized, sponsored, partnered, or supported events
  • Assist in the delivery of Economic Development marketing and event initiatives

Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have post-secondary education in marketing, social media management, communications, event planning or related field. Experience will be considered in lieu of education. Membership and pursuit of accreditation with a relevant professional association is an asset. Experience in a professional marketing, event management, or communications role is an asset but not required. Knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe products and Website Management.

Conditions of Employment:Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, satisfactory and valid Driver’s Abstract and satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

Compensation: The Town of Strathmore total compensation package includes a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefit package and participation in LAPP pension.
