Summary

The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is working on a number of cutting edge and special projects economic development projects, procurement of services and products to the government of Canada and developing relationships with potential employers and service providers.

The existing commercial and residential real estate portfolio includes a social and economic innovation centre, a warehouse and resiliency lodges in Quebec and New Brunswick.

This portfolio includes fully implementing the NWAC Indigenous procurement policy and developing relationships with First Nation, Metis and Inuit suppliers.

The position will report to the CEO and work closely with the COO and Chief Communications Strategist and CFO.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Develop of a project management plan.
  • Plan, define and develop schedules and activities.
  • Estimate resources and activity duration.
  • Plan and identify human resource requirements as needed.
  • Assist in planning communication plans for projects.
  • Plan for and identify potential risks, performing qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and planning risk mitigation strategies.
  • Assist in planning and identifying quality standards and requirements.
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors or service providers for the successful execution of projects.
  • Help ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Develop and amend project workplans scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility and track progress.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation as needed.
  • Manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Manage the relationships with other NWAC team members stakeholders.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Oversee all incoming and outgoing project documentation.
  • Conduct project review and create detailed reports for executive staff or funders as needed.
  • Optimize and improve project processes and the overall approach where necessary.
  • Secure growth opportunities and initiate new projects as opportunities arise.
  • Control the quality of deliverables.

EXPERIENCE

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing various projects or programs.
  • The candidate will have a minimum of ten years direct or related experience in management.
  • Experience must be in managing day to day project activities including human resource and finance. The candidate must also have a very strong background in fixed income and equity investment.
  • Proven experience in managing people and processes.
  • A successful track record of locating, structuring, and managing projects, programs and operations.
  • Experience and knowledge working with Indigenous entrepreneurs, suppliers and service providers.

STUDIES AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business administration, economics, finance, or over 10 years of work experience in office management, project management the business and real-restate related field.
