David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit for a Manager, Information Systems located in Yellowknife, NT.

This position is considered a major asset for our client and will report directly to the Vice President, Performance and Corporate Services. Along with managing internal employees as well as external contractors, the Manager, Information Systems will be responsible for planning and coordinating all IS-related activities and providing administrative direction and support for daily operational activities.

The Role

  • Develop and maintain the Information Systems strategic and operational framework including the development of strategic initiatives and annual operational planning
  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of the client’s Information Systems and Services
  • Monitor, evaluate, and create reports focused on ongoing IS projects, governance, and operations
  • Identify potential IS risks ad oversee the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies
  • Develop and lead the implementation of information security strategies and provide oversight over the information security framework
  • Develop and maintain a security program and initiatives that address identified risks and business information security requirements
  • Lead incident handling activities to ensure an incident response is appropriate and effective including but not limited to developing the network, providing training, tools, guidance, and reports as needed
  • Work with the CIO and other stakeholders to develop business and system requirements for new technology implementations
  • Manage all day-to-day activities of the Information Systems unit

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Management Information Systems
  • 5+ years of directly related experience
  • 3+ of relevant progressive IT management experience with strong leadership qualities
  • Ability to manage and track large budgets and finances to support effective decision making
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to determine and identify long-term goals and issues
  • Professional certifications including formal training in Project Management, IT Service Management, and other relevant certifications are considered an asset
  • French language skills will be considered an asset
