Role Description

The Manager, Credit is responsible for providing leadership to the credit and collection functions and managing the day-to-day operations of a large team working with a diverse internal and external customer base.

This position is predominately responsible for designing, operating, and improving scalable and repeatable processes, people and technology that ensure Kal Tire has a disciplined approach to customer credit and timely collections.

Core Responsibilities

Credit and Collection Policy and Process Development

  • Create a strategic vision, with a focus on key business drivers and opportunities for short and long-term improvement.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of policies, procedures, KPI’s, reporting and automation opportunities for credit and collections processes.
  • Responsible to develop administer policies related to the extension of credit that will improve cash flow and reduce AR. This includes communication of Kal Tire’s credit strategy and framework to internal and external stakeholders.

Credit Analysis and Collection Process Management

  • Responsible to ensure the collections function delivers excellent customer service that optimizes the customer experience and drives customer retention while maximizing recovery.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Sales, Finance and Legal to ensure all customer issues related to collection activities are managed and addressed.
  • Manage bad debt expense and departmental budgeting and monthly expense tracking.

Credit and Collection Resource / Advisor

  • Analyze/review key metrics and results of the Credit and Collections function while keeping leaders apprised of significant trends or developments on an ongoing basis.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership, set department goals and provide guidance to the Supervisors and staff to successfully achieve these goals.
  • Hiring coaching, developing, and training team members; cultivating talent, communicating performance level expectations; providing constructive feedback and establishing an accountability rhythm to ensure goals of individual team members and the team meet or exceed expectation.

Work Experience

  • 10 years’ commercial credit and collections experience at a senior level.
  • 3-5 years’ team management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand different stakeholder perspectives to draw the very best out of a team, including cultivating an expectation of service excellence with achieving operational/financial outcomes.
  • Self-motivated, ability to identify solutions, create a vision and move towards that vision with minimal guidance.
  • Interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and / or Accounting or equivalent experience
  • FCI designation
  • CCP designation or equivalent

Special Requirements

  • Moderate travel is required
