About The Role

We are looking for an Underground Maintenance Electrician to be part of our Underground Fixed Plant Asset Management department. The position is primarily based Underground with occasional shutdown support in the backfill/crusher, process plant and other fixed plant facilities on site. The electrician will work a 12 hour shift rotating days and nights.

The MaintenanceElectrician is responsible for performing planned and breakdown installation and maintenance to the electrical equipment in the various fixed plant environments around site in a safe, environmentally friendly and cost-effective manner to ensure that equipment availability is maximized. The key fixed plant area of responsibility will be the underground mine with occasional support in the process and backfill plant as required.

Reporting to the Fixed Plant Maintenance Supervisor, you will be working 12 hours shifts on a 3 weeks on / 3 weeks off rotational schedule in the interim (alternating night shift and day shift) with the potential that this changes to a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation in the future, once the COVID-19 pandemic normalizes. Key Role Objectives

• Installing new or overhauled equipment
• Electrical troubleshooting and power analysis
• Keeping work areas and equipment clean and free of safety hazards on a continuous basis and conduct safety audits as per company policy.
• Performing preventative maintenance
• Repairing equipment within planned time frames as indicated in work orders.
• Conducting equipment inspections in response to Operator concerns or as outlined by the maintenance schedule and detect and diagnose troubles (e.g., vibration, heat, odour, abnormal instrument response).
• Performing repairs in a cost-effective, safe, and environmentally friendly manner to maximize equipment availability
• Entering detailed reports on maintenance, repairs, and diagnosis into the preventative and predictive maintenance database prior to the end of each shift.
• Providing sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment
• Working and Promoting Safety within the fixed plant team.
• Meeting your personal safety plan commitments.
• Immediately reporting all incidents and accidents to your immediate supervisor.
• Working to achieve or exceed the site and departmental safety goals.
• Foster and develop a safety culture within the processing plant.
• Use a safe working attitude when performing tasks
• Complete a JHA prior to performing work.
• Actively participate in the morning pre-start/LEAN meeting
• Completing other related work as assigned by the Fixed Plant Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor, Electrical Lead Hand, or Senior Managers
• Operating mobile equipment – specifically aerial work platforms and scissor lifts, bobcats, front end loaders and pickup trucks and underground auxiliary equipment as required.
  

What You’ll Bring

• A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
• Journeyperson Red Seal electrical ticket.
• Experience with SAP (CMMS) would be considered an asset.
• Current St. John’s Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR is an asset.
• Training on the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a mining environment, preferably underground.
• Be a reliable self-starter that can work as a team or alone with minimal direct supervision.
• Excellent oral, written and active-listening skills
• Highly effective organizational, time management and analytical skills
• Willing to work a 12hr shift and be available for off hours call outs. (Overtime)
