The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing:

• Innovative legal, strategic and business advice and services.
• Assessment of risk.
• Legal representation in courts at all levels, as well as administrative tribunals.
• Corporate education/awareness on legal and risk management issues.

Reporting to the City Solicitor, this position will perform the following duties:

• Prosecute breaches of civic bylaws and provincial offenses within the City’s jurisdiction.
• Legal and business advice and assistance in the development and application of corporate policies and strategies.
• Preparation, review and interpretation of legal documents, agreement and contracts.
• Research, interpretation and analysis of information, including presentation of options, opinions and implications.
• Drafting and interpreting bylaws and resolutions of City Council.
• Providing Risk Management services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws Degree and completion of Bar Admission course.
• Membership in, or eligibility for membership in, the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Minimum of 6 months experience in legal environment.
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability for occasional travel.
