If you are a Law Assistant with a minimum of 2 years of proven experience, and a good command of the English language and are looking for a challenging position with autonomy, to gain more effective experience, grow your knowledge and excel in your field then this may be the most important message you will read.

Here is why: You will get top-notch experience from an Injury law firm that is known to get results and win difficult and problematic personal injury cases. You will sharpen your legal skills and rise to the top, learning from a legal team with an established reputation for client care. You will have the opportunity to excel and blossom in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, and expand your industry knowledge and communication skills.

What you will own & improve:

1. Client files – each file that you work on will be yours. It is your responsibility to know exactly what is going on with each file. You need to be aware of when documents need to be filed, when hearings and discoveries are happening, and what each client’s file needs in order to move forward. Don’t worry, though – we don’t expect you to have super-human memory. We have great systems and procedures in place to help!

2. Client records – our clients’ cases depend on medical and employment records. You’ll need to be on top of what we need for each client, what we have, and what’s missing. You’ll also be responsible for compiling those records when needed.

3. Court documents – depending on the complexity of the file, many different court documents could be required. While you won’t need to do the bulk of the legal research and writing, you’ll still need to know which documents are required at which stage of the case, when they need to be filed, and where they need to go once they come back from the Court. It’ll be up to you to make sure they’re drafted, filed, returned, and forwarded to the correct person.

Skills & characteristics you have:

1. You are highly organized – there are a ton of deadlines, appointments, and documents to keep track of, so you need to be great at making sure things are exactly where they need to be when they need to be there.

2. Your written and oral communication skills are phenomenal – you know how to express yourself clearly and efficiently whether in emails or when talking to clients.

3. You’re tech-savvy – we rely on a lot of computer-based systems to help make our job easier. Being handy with technology will make it super simple to take advantage of all of those systems and programs.

What you already know:

How to communicate effectively – Our clients are going through a very stressful period in their lives when they choose to work with us. They have a lot of questions, and the legal and insurance industries are not the easiest to understand from the outside. It’s important that you know how to answer their questions in a way that’s both accurate and reassuring. Being able to get your point across without adding to the confusion goes a long way. You’ll also be communicating with lawyers, insurance adjusters, and paralegals, so being able to communicate professionally is a must.

How to empathize and connect with people – Like we’ve said, our clients can be stressed, upset, and confused. Being able to connect with them on a human level helps build trust with the client and will make your job a lot easier in the long run.

How to prioritize & juggle multiple important tasks – with multiple files, it should be no surprise that you’ll have to face competing deadlines. You need to know which tasks to prioritize and which can wait just a little bit longer.
