Job Purpose
To support the continued development of our manufacturing facility in Burnaby, Alpha Technologies, EnerSys is looking to fill the position of Lead Manufacturing Engineer. The successful candidate will have the energy, people skills, and demonstrated experience to be a leader in designing effective manufacturing flows in a fast-paced, high mix integration environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Developing robust build plans for custom and configurable product families including layout, material movements, production processes, work instructions, and jigs
Leading improvement projects on the entire value stream to improve flow and reduce product cost
Providing technical direction and training to other members of the manufacturing team
Making strategic decisions regarding the creation and maintenance of build documentation and standards
Taking ownership of manufacturing deliverables for new product introduction as part of a core team
Specifying, proposing, procuring, or designing equipment and tooling for improving manufacturing processes, product quality, and employee safety
Working with the Quality team to determine root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed
Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
5+ or more years as an engineer in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
Bachelor or Master Degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering
Demonstrated experience showing the ability to:
Implement mixed model assembly lines
Effectively communicate technical concepts to different audiences
Lead strategic projects within a multi-disciplinary environment
Work within collaborative teams and complete assignments to schedule
Perform high level critical thinking and problem solving
Strong understanding of scheduling and material setup within an ERP environment
Leverage technology to drive manufacturing efficiencies
Desirable Skills or Experience:
CAD or SolidWorks skills
Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence
Project management
Experience in system test development
Experience with industrial integration
Telecommunications or industrial equipment
