POSITION TITLE: Kinesiologist/Job Coach

PROGRAM:WarehouseAbilities – Training for PWD/Skills for Life and Work

REPORTS TO: Program Manager & Program Coordinator

LOCATION:Richmond (will be required to travel to various job sites)

STATUS:P/T employee or as sub-contractor

(8 month contract with possibility of extension)

HOURS OF WORK:Monday to Friday 30 hours per week (on occasion may be required to work weekends and evenings)

Summary

Back in Motion Rehab Inc. provides employment programs aimed to support a variety of at-risk populations. Skills for Life and Work is a 6-week work and life skills program designed to help people facing multiple barriers to employment. Along with the six weeks of training, this program also provides participants with access to our skilled job developers and job coaches to support people into employment and over the three month follow up period. Back in Motion has also partnered with Universal Learning institute (ULI) to provide WarehouseAbilities – Training for PWD. This 11-week training program is tailored to industry needs, and includes soft and essential skills, Fundamental Warehouse Operations occupational skills, and key warehousing certifications. Participants also receive hands-on work simulation training in a real-life warehouse environment and work experience opportunities. WarehouseAbilities provides comprehensive accessibility, employment readiness, and job search/maintenance supports, to address barriers commonly faced by Persons with Disabilities and ensure sustainable employment opportunities in the high-demand Warehousing.

Under the direction of the Program Manager and Program Coordinator, this role will require being a part of two teams and to support individuals who are interested in accessing employment. This position will require collaboration in working closely with our educational partner, ULI, referring agencies and employers. They will provide work simulation assessments, hands on training in a simulated warehouse, facilitate workshops on safety and workplace accommodations and strategies. The Kinesiologist will also be involved in on the job coaching and implementing accommodations and strategies to assist individuals with a range of learning styles. Additionally, as required, the Kinesiologist/Job Coach may be involved in developing and supporting sustainable competitive employment opportunities in a variety of industries, based on interests and skill sets.

RESPONSIBILITIES - Kinesiologist

• Conduct Work Simulation Assessments with individuals who express an interest in working in warehousing. This is done during the screening and intake process and throughout the training;
• Hands on training in warehouse tasks in a simulated Warehouse setting. This will include the various processes and different job functions that will be required to perform in a warehouse setting;
• Provide assessment reports and document progress (ie suitability and necessary recommendations to move to an employment opportunity)
• The Kinesiologist will work in collaboration with ULI and other staff to provide support and feedback;
• Developing strategies and accommodations for a range of learning styles
• Provides on the job coaching as required
• Facilitates, coordinates, and monitors workplace assessments and training-on-the-job opportunities;

• Develops and supports sustainable competitive employment opportunities based on Client’s work experience, skill sets and employment goals;
• Creates opportunities for employment including: information interview, employment readiness assessment, job shadowing opportunity, mentorship, training-on-the-job, work experience, or paid employment;
• Places clients with appropriate employers;
• Provides follow-up support to clients once employed;
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong ability and two years’ experience working with clients with barriers to employment.
• Two year of experience in working with employers supporting individuals through Job Coaching and learning strategies
• Experience in providing assessments such as work simulation, ergonomic and Functional Capacity Evaluations
• Understanding of Job Site safety, specific job skills, and appropriate work behaviors for long term success to support the transition of participants to employment.
• Experience in determining and implementing accommodations and training plans suited to a range of learning styles
• Experience and/or interest in data collection and analysis
• Must have a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance to travel within the Lower Mainland
• Job Development, client placement and marketing is an asset to this position
  
  

Education:

• Successful completion of a degree in Kinesiology or Human Kinetic
  
  

Memberships & Associations:

• Current Registration (in good standing) with the BC Association of Kinesiologists
• Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP), RCSS or Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) designation or eligible for one of these designations would be an asset.
