Nextreme Inc. is looking to hire a Journeyman Welder with a strong background in steel manufacturing and fabrication to work in our Manufacturing shop in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

Information/Requirements:

• Must be a Canadian resident to apply.
• Candidates willing to relocate will be given priority. This is not a camp job. No LOA is offered. Staff housing provided with a monthly fee which is located next to our Manufacturing Facility to those willing to travel or relocate.
• Candidates who successfully complete their 3 months’ probation will be eligible for the company’s health/dental benefits.
• Hours are based on a minimum of 40 hours a week, with opportunity for overtime as needed.
• Wage dependent upon experience, certifications and is competitive.

The ideal candidate should have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic, get along well with others in a team environment, but also comfortable working under minimal supervision.

Certifications:

• Journeyman Welder (required)
• Driver’s License (required)
• CWB Certification SMAW (required)
• Other CWB Certifications an asset

• B-Pressure Certification
• Fall Protection (required)
• Aerial Work Platform (asset)
• Confined Space (asset)

Skills:

• Read and interpret blueprints/drawings to correctly fabricate and assemble products from start to finish
• Accurately record time and material on every work order
• Familiar with shop fabricating equipment such as shears, band saws, iron workers, drill presses and plasma cutters.
• Able to work in fast paced environment
• Inspects work in progress and finished products
• Safety orientated
• Punctual and on time
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand on your feet for long periods of time often doing repetitive motions
• Able to keep a tidy workplace
• Clean and perform equipment maintenance as required.

Experience:

• Safe use and operation of gougers, welding equipment
• Proficient in SMAW/FCAW/GMAW/TIG processes,
• Able to operate independently, plasma cutters, oxygen/acetylene cutting equipment, ironworkers, band saws, automated cutting equipment, machining equipment, presses, threading equipment and other fabrication equipment as required.
• Confident with welding, cutting, grinding, measuring, layout, and total fabrication start to finish based on blueprints
• Capable of successfully completing all skill tests required to demonstrate quality welding and fabrications skills as requested by the operation.
• The diagnosis and troubleshooting of equipment problems; identifying and replacing failed components, worn or broken parts, making all necessary adjustments and alignments as well as performing quality repairs.
