Join the Canacre team in an exciting role working on leading edge infrastructure projects.

We are technical experts in land, energy, and transportation development delivering accurate, innovative, and agile solutions to our partners. We provide land acquisition, geospatial mapping, data management, web-based GIS, community relations, land feasibility studies, and permitting services. Canacre’s clients include developers, large scale service providers, and government entities that are involved in the planning and development of energy projects, rights of way, resources, and infrastructure across Canada and the United States. Canacre works on large-scale wind and solar power projects, high-voltage transmission lines, pipeline projects, municipal roads projects, and groupings of cellular towers and rooftop antennas.

The IT Support Specialist will be the single point of contact for all technical related issues and provide support for the day to day IT Operations of Canacre.

In addition, your role will be to:

  • First responder for all incoming user requests (email, voice, data, fax, copier, printer, mobile devices, applications).
  • Respond to user needs and track incident tickets through following the IT Helpdesk System.
  • Provide remote IT support for Canacre’s Field and Branch Office users.
  • Provide employee support for corporate applications, mobile devices, IP phones and laptops/desktops.
  • Install and configure computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose/solve hardware or software faults.
  • Maintain IT databases and documentation.
  • Administer Canacre’s web-based file management system.
  • Research pricing for new IT equipment purchases.
  • Provide support for on-site IT equipment including printers, scanners etc.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of Canacre’s archive program.
  • Liaise with third party vendors regarding hardware warranties and coordinate hardware repair.
  • Maintain and update the equipment inventory database (new equipment, write offs, changes, etc) including purchase costs, dates, etc.
  • Perform Active Directory and Office 365 changes as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year technical support and customer service experience.
  • Experience with networking equipment including switches, routers, servers and firewalls, ticketing system skills and RMM tools is considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory management, anti-virus monitoring, deployment and administration and basic troubleshooting processes.
  • Working knowledge of Office 365 management, MS Windows Desktop operating systems and MS Office applications (Excel, Access, Outlook and Word).
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple cases at one time.
  • Pursuit of Microsoft (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP or MCTS) and/or CompTIA (A+, Network+ or Security+) certification is considered an asset.
