Position Summary and Scope of Service:

Reporting to the Coordinator, River Road Child Care, and consistent with the Mission, Values and policies of St.Amant, the Supervisor, River Road Child Care is a critical role in ensuring the success of St.Amant business and operations.

Exemplifying the mission, vision and values of St.Amant, the Early Childhood Educator Inclusion Support Program (ECE, ISP) Leader, River Road Child Care (RRCC) works collaboratively with partnered programs while offering respectful customer service.

The ECE ISP Leader, River Road Child Care is responsible for the overall care and well-being of the children in accordance to the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act.

The ECE ISP leader River Road Child Care provides leadership to the Early Childhood Educators and the Child Care Assistants by developing and monitoring a system of procedures designed to ensure practices and goals for individual children are supported and implemented. The position involves direct interactions with the children and acts a resource for the team as they support the children in following through with individual program planning.

The ECE ISP leader, River Road Child Care will be immediately responsible to the Coordinator and/or supervisor and may be responsible for the Centre in the absence of the Coordinator and supervisor.

Qualifications:

Educational:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Degree or diploma in specialized training for children with Special Rights (Special Needs).
  • Meet the requirements under the Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care Program as E.C.E. II or III
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR certificate as prescribed by the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act
  • Current Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check

Professional:

  • Previous experience working in the child care profession
  • Minimum of one year of experience in leading a team, mentoring and training
  • Working knowledge of office productivity applications (Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Commitment to a collaborative team approach to service delivery
  • Knowledge of The Community Child Care Standards Act
  • Knowledge of the Family-Centred Approach
  • Knowledge of inclusion and the MB government, Inclusion Support Program

Program/Service Support

Consistent with the Mission, Philosophy, Policies and procedures of St.Amant, the ECE ISP Leader is responsible for assisting with the provision of inclusion at River Road Child Care.Priority is given to developing, implementing and providing to support the team to create inclusive programming for all children’s development needs and ensures their overall well-being. Quality services are evident when professional communication, timeliness, accuracy, ethical awareness / sensitivity, confidentiality are consistently demonstrated as required by legislation and program/service standards.

Duties include:

  • Adheres to and promotes compliance with the policies of St. Amant, the Centre and the requirements of the Manitoba Child Day Care Standards Act, Regulations and licensing requirements.
  • Organizes and designs space, equipment and materials
  • Provides information to parents through verbal, written and visual means regarding Centre programs and children’s developmental progress
  • Uses Accident Report, behavioral charts to inform adults of children’s concerns
  • Provides primary care for all children, which promotes positive health, safety and physical development
  • Develops effective individualized programming in consultation with other professionals with the knowledge and support of the coordinator
  • Practices appropriate behaviour management and guidance techniques according to River Road Child Care policies. Examples include:
  • positive reinforcement / redirection
  • positive language
  • Circle of Security
  • Follows the program schedule and other duties outlined by Coordinator
  • Physically involves self throughout the day in children’s activities through guidance, demonstration and encouragement as well as asking questions and seeking clarification
  • Daily informs parents about their children’s experiences at the centre
  • Welcomes the family and integrate each child into the group upon arrival
  • Assists in the professional growth of colleagues through the sharing of ideas, information and talents
