We are looking for a In-Fab Maintenance Technical Officer to support NRC’s Advanced Electronics and Photonics (AEP) Research Centre. The In-Fab Maintenance Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.


The In-Fab Maintenance Technical Officer is a member of a team of engineering Technologists who work autonomously reporting directly to the Technical Supervisor, AEP Research Center. The In-Fab Maintenance Technical Officer is responsible for providing specialized technical support services in the design, planning, conduct and analysis of complex experiments, and facilities operation in a clean room environment (ISO 5, 6). This position also provides asset management services, proactive and preventative maintenance on a suite of sophisticated Semiconductor Manufacturing and Photonic Fabrication Equipment.

Education

Post-secondary education in a technical, engineering or scientific discipline related to the position.

Experience

  • Extensive experience with the safe operation, maintenance/verification/repair and/or installation of a suite of Semiconductor or Photonic device manufacturing equipment in any of the following technologies: CVD, MOCVD, ETCH, Metrology or Photolithography.
  • Significant experience in a technical support role associated with a fast paced semiconductor research or manufacturing in a cleanroom environment.
  • Significant experience with project management related activities.
  • Significant experience in hazardous gas or chemical handling.
  • Significant experience documenting, writing procedures, analyzing data utilizing Microsoft Office Suites and CAD software.
  • Basic first aid and emergency response training or experience would be considered an asset.

  • Must qualify to work in a Controlled Goods Zone. Training will be provided.

Assessment Criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical Competencies

  • Solid Knowledge of safe practices for working with chemicals, compressed gases, liquid nitrogen, and electrical, mechanical, and vacuum systems.
  • Solid Knowledge of best practices for Preventive Maintenance of manufacturing or facilities support equipment.
  • Solid Knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health & Safety regulations required to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment within the laboratory environment and its affiliated office space.
  • Solid Knowledge of instrumentation and electronics diagnosis/repair.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical direction from a variety of sources including engineering drawings, facility interface documentation, data acquisition systems, Installation/repair manuals, industry standards and standardized procedures.
  • Ability to install, repair and pro-actively maintain complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to design and build or modify complex electro-mechanical equipment to official standards and best practices.

Compensation

From $73,744 to $94,839 per annum.
