Job Overview:

Cougar Fuels is currently looking for an HS&E Advisor for our Suncor Base Plant operation. This position shall ensure that identified health, safety, environment, and security requirements are implemented in all work areas. This position reports directly to the EH&S Manager and will work a 7 on 7 off shift.

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop and implement safety, procedures, and policies for operations
• Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations and provide assistance in the implementation of the HS&E Project, Execution Plan for the work site
• Work closely with the Management Team on implementation of health and safety policies & procedures
• Liaise with the EH&S Manager on core team resource requirements (people, major equipment, etc.)
• Conduct HSE Orientation to groups of employees/managers
• Reporting of all incidents and Near Miss incidents by all site personnel
• Ensure training & compliance is up date for all workers.
• Upload safety certificates in our safety sync database
• Continuously monitor the work environment
• Communicates appropriate HS&E related information on an accurate and timely basis to the work force
• Support or leads hazard identification exercises
• Participates in regular HS&E meetings and discuss HS&E concerns and actions
• Assist supervision and management in conducting incident investigations
• Encourage overall hazard identification and reporting as well as immediate investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints and cases of worker’s health concerns
• Undertaking risk assessments and site inspections to identifying potential hazards
• Collaborate with law enforcement agents and OH&S investigators to address cases of workplace accident
• Conduct risk assessments to identify work areas with high risk and determine the ways of reducing risks
• Keep up to date and ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation
• Other duties assigned

Education and Experience:

• Must have 2-3 years’ experience in environment, health and safety.
• NCSO/OH&S preferred
• Must be willing and able to work in a team environment
• Must be flexible and willing to work alternative work hours
• Strong written and verbal communication
