Overview:

The Health Outcomes Analyst is vital to projects involving cancer-related data using the Manitoba Cancer Registry and other population health databases. The incumbent ensures the completion of various cancer-related projects including statistical consultation, designing and refining data analysis plans, ensuring the completion of appropriate analyses, and presenting data informatively (via graphs and tables) with clear written interpretation. With these projects, the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Registry is able to provide statistical analysis and support to help CancerCare Manitoba fulfill its mandate as a Centre of Excellence. Appropriate scientific, logic-based approaches are integral to the HOA’s work; thus training and experience in statistics and research methods are essential.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • MSc or MPH in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or other health statistics-oriented field with relevant experience or an MD with post graduate training in epidemiology or biostatistics. Other degrees and working experience in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or another field with an emphasis on the use of statistics in health may be applicable
  • Experience using SAS for data management and statistical analysis
  • Strong quantitative analytical skills
  • Proficient with computer software systems in a windows environment, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
  • Working familiarity with epidemiological concepts and administrative databases
  • Ability to prioritize large workload and independently complete a variety of tasks
  • Excellent communication skills in English both oral and written, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
  • Capable of carrying out the duties of this position with diplomacy, sound judgement, tact and professionalism in a team environment
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality, take initiative, and lead projects from initiation through completion
  • Satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Preferred:

  • Experience with administrative databases
  • Ability to speak French

Asset:

  • Knowledge of other statistical software programs such as STATA, or R
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience with large databases
Salary:Out of Scope
