We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at our Saskatoon Manufacturing Plant.
Reporting to the EHS Manager the position’s daily tasks are assisting in the managing of environmental, safety, and health processes and providing leadership for all matters related to employee safety and health. They will support manufacturing personnel to ensure that systems are in place to drive continuous improvement in employee safety programs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating accident/incident investigations and corrective actions
- Assist in programs and procedures related to regulatory compliance and reduction of EHS&E
- Assist with coordinating EHS&E training and communications
- Clerical support for tracking and reporting plant EHS&E performance or ad-hoc data, including safety and environmental performance measures, training, incident tracking, audit findings, WCM
- Preparing reports, presentations, and training modules for use by shop employees, supervisors, and management teams.
- Lead and support continuous improvement of the EHS&E function across the site.
- Assist in the development, implementation and compliance of policies, programs, processes, procedures and reduce EH&S hazards associated with plant operations.
- Help develop, conduct and coordinate EH&S training and communication programs.
- Assist in preparing reports, information and presentations for the site OH&S Committee.
- Participate in incident investigations, assist in root cause determination and follow-up on corrective actions.
- To perform various administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a related post-secondary degree or diploma in Health and Safety.
- Degree in Human Resources or General Business also considered
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of a PC, particularly with Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management, prioritization and planning skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $22.55-$29.63 per hour
