As a member of the Engineering team you will work on our programs such as CHORUS Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Satellite, Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC), Square Kilometer Array (SKA) radio telescope, Aeronautical Navigation products, and Marine Insights products. You will work as part of a technical team to develop new capabilities, enhance existing capabilities and deliver solutions to our customers.

As part of your growth and development we will work with you to establish your development actions alongside regular progress reviews. You are likely to move through various projects to gain the experience and knowledge to progress your career with us.

We’re on the hunt for a motivated and talented Engineering Student, Engineering Management on our Geointelligence Engineering Team at our Richmondoffice. This is an 8 month term starting in Sep 2022.

Overall the successful candidate would be treated similar to a new graduate joining our company, where tasks will be assigned relative to the level of schooling and experience achieved to date.

As our Engineering Student, Engineering Management you will be embedded in the Engineering Management team to gain experience and insights into the challenge of organizing and leading a large matrixed engineering organization. If you are a people person and see management in your future, this is the coop position for you. The most impactful engineers are those that master their technical skills, people skills and managerial skills. This position will give you a chance to hone the latter two!

Specifically, you could be working on or leading projects to:
  • Improve resource management and tools
  • Improve engineer training programmes
  • Improve cost governance within the engineering organization
  • Develop policies, processes, tools and frameworks for knowledge sharing, capability development, and recognition

  • Continuous Improvement processes
  • Engineer Review Team Audits
  • Department level decision analysis reviews
  • Engineering Management Best Practices
Responsibilities
  • Configuring, Designing, Coding, testing, debugging and documenting custom Engineering Management tools (e.g. Excel, JIRA, Confluence, etc)
  • Leading special projects
  • Aid in the development of engineering policy and processes
  • Coordinating engineering team events
Experience And Skills Required
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills
  • Willingness to lead diverse groups of people and projects
  • Confidence to lead efficient, purposeful meetings
  • Possess ambition and the ability to influence stakeholders to achieve objectives outside their primary focus
  • Ability to quickly learn on the job and leverage your experiences and knowledge
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Team oriented approach
Desirable
  • Experience working in a Systems Engineering environment
  • Experience in software development
  • Experience in project management
Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
