Embedded Software Engineer/Designer

• Actalent is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to work with one of our clients in the Aerospace/Defense industry. *
• Description:* Looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to program in C Language for electro-mechanical systems. Someone with experience in low level programming in C, who also understands hardware design.
• Strong working knowledge of embedded C programming
• Practical understanding of real time operating systems, and multi-threaded real time code
• Solid understanding of embedded systems design (hardware & software)
• Good understanding of electrical engineering concepts and principals
• Familiarity with basic control system theory
• Strong working knowledge of thread-safe low level driver development an asset
• Strong working knowledge of board bring up, bsp, and hardware abstraction layer development an asset
• Detailed understanding of common communication protocols such as RS232, RS422, I2C, SPI, CAN, USB, Ethernet, etc. an asset
• Familiarity with ARM Cortex (M3/4, A8/9), powerPC, dsPIC, Stellaris, and/or Kinetis an asset
• Familiarity with vxWorks, RTEMS, and/or ThreadX an asset
• Familiarity with Linux as a development host an asset
• Familiarity with electro-mechanical and optical sensor assemblies an asset
• Familiarity with lasers (eye safe and non-eye safe) an asset
• Ability to understand the design and operation of complex interrelated subsystems, and complex electro-optical assemblies
• Additional Skills & Qualifications:* MUST HAVE 1: C Language Programming

• Must have experience with a RTOS that processes data in real time as it comes in.
  
  

MUST HAVE 3: Low Level Embedded Complex System Design
