We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Designer IIto join our Generation and Energy Management Team based in St. Catharines, ON.

YOUR IMPACT

CHA provides a comprehensive approach to district energy and power and thermal generation systems. We ensure these critical systems are maintainable and operable with redundant, fail-safe backups. Our expertise encompasses gas turbines, steam turbines, reciprocating engines, gas plants, biomass plants, coal-fired boiler plants, chiller plants, high-voltage substation, and more. From the early stages of master planning and permitting through comprehensive detailed design, we partner with our clients to bring projects online fully and efficiently.

The Electrical Engineer Designer II will use AutoCAD drawing production software to produce detailed project design and construction drawings. This will include all different types of electrical drawings from general arrangements and section views to grounding and lighting plans and details, and many more. The Electrical Engineer Designer II will participate in site visits to collect data and prepare record drawings, review vendor drawings and contractor submittals, and participate in project review meetings as well.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Electrical Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma (or equivalent) or Associates Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, or related technical field is required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of document production experience in electrical design
  • OACETT certification preferred
  • Proficient with discipline-based software, specifically AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in the design of electrical power systems including specific experience with substations, industrial facilities, central utility plants, power plants, generation plants & distribution systems is a plus
  • Experience with design of low, medium & high voltage systems, relay protection systems, and knowledge of electrical standards and codes is a plus
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist senior staff
  • Ability to work and physically navigate in the field on occasion is required
