Job Overview:

As a Director, Environment, Health and Regulatory Services Group, you will be responsible for the continual growth, development, and improvement of our technical capabilities through increasing business and successful project delivery within the Environment, Health and Regulatory Service Group. This is a senior management position, providing direct input to the Executive team regarding MEMS’ overall corporate strategy and business plans. You will work on projects and interact with Clients on a regular basis to stay current with market expectations.
As a Director, Environmental Health and Regulatory, you will be responsible for:
1) Expanding MEMS reputation as a premier consultant in our target markets.
2) Achieving Revenue & Workload targets that outperform market competitors.
  • Increase business including repeat work and leveraging existing client relationships and good will to attract new clients.
  • Creating and delivering on business growth plans based on improving existing value propositions and positioning for future trends in the marketplace.
  • Achieving a workload distribution that is fair and effective throughout the team to meet revenue targets and promote career development.
  • Being accountable, in conjunction with Project Managers, for the quality and timely delivery of projects to clients.
    3) Overseeing staff career development processes that outperforms market competitors by:
  • Working with the technical leads and operations managers in overseeing the implementation of specific capability and performance improvement initiatives or programs for improving individual and organizational performance capacity and potential to achieve business results.
  • Establishing effective mentoring programs for all staff in the team.
  • Promoting opportunities for career advancement in alignment with career development planning and competencies of the individual including training.
  • Ensuring that the team is current with internal and external technical requirements.
    4) Participate in Business Operations:
  • Providing monthly forecast reporting on the backlog of billable time combined with recommendations to increase business effectiveness.
  • Providing input into budgets and business plans.
  • Participating in and leading strategic initiatives and other special projects.
  • Providing input into developing effective recruitment and onboarding strategies.
  • Ensuring that succession plans are implemented for key roles within the team.
  • Working with personnel at all levels to negotiate and resolve employee or performance matters.

What You Bring:

  • 10+ years post designation experience in a similar capacity gained in medium to large sized consultancy environments.
  • A sound understanding of resource-base industries.
  • A proven track record in providing positive leadership and coaching.
  • The skills and ability to develop, mentor and retain talent and the belief that success is achieved through the efforts of the team, not as an individual.
  • Ability to maintain currency in the profession through activities such as: networking; affiliations; membership in professional associations; reading; writing; teaching and continuing education.
  • Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to provide sound recommendations based on the outcome of analysis.
  • Can call on your effectiveness in influencing business unit leaders to adopt recommended initiatives based on solid business case analyses and the delivery of positive business results.
  • Ability to focus on details and technicalities while simultaneously retaining a comprehensive vision of the big picture.
  • Work well under pressure, have great interpersonal skills, and can juggle several different projects and responsibilities with ease and composure.
  • Clear concise communication style; both written and verbal.
  • Thorough knowledge of environmental legislation in western Canada.
  • Ability to work with technical teams and lead discussions about system implementation.
  • Understanding of risk management and the application of that to the SG portfolio within a business environment.
  • Strong strategic capabilities.
  • A valid, non-GDL Class 5 Drivers license.
  • You will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
