Deployment Manager

Our telecom client, Bell Canada, is seeking a Deployment Manager for a long-term contract. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 7 years experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:

• Support the deployment for several application development groups delivering software continuously to staging environments, QA environments, and highly available production environments
• Manage a team of release engineers and deployment specialists
• Allocate resources among several projects to support ongoing requirements for deployment across multiple departments
• Assess and audit existing release processes
• Develop deployment playbooks for critical applications
• Identify opportunities for the automation of existing deployment processes
• Oversee deployment, coordinate with business and technical teams, and manage communication with internal stakeholders related to deployment activities
• Produce any required release documentation
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure projects are developed to standards and release schedules are met
• Create an on-call schedule for deployment and release engineering resources to support production

Key Competencies and Experience:

• Minimum 7 years experience as a Deployment Manager in telecommunications, technology, or IT field
• Understand high-level software and system architecture
• Knowledge of release engineering that spans both software development and system administration
• Expert knowledge of build, release, and configuration management processes, including brand-based development and patch-oriented workflows
• Experience in Software Application Release and/or DevOps Release
• Ability to rapidly assess the risks and impacts associated with a change in plans
• Understand the rapidly changing landscape of tools that are used to automate deployments
• Outstanding the ability to provide guidance, mentoring, and day-to-day support to developers
• Ability to motivate teams to focus and deliver in a high-pressure environment
• Strong organizational skills and analytical skills that include the ability to respond to changing needs and shifting priorities while minimizing project impact
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be willing to work a combination of day and night shifts, as needed
