The Civil labor position is an entry level position requiring the individual to perform predominantly manual tasks. Pulling, digging, landscaping, lifting, moving, transferring and other related duties. This individual is a team player with a strong work ethic.

Job Duties

• Participate in the build of direct buried facilities.
• Responsible for completing tasks as identified.
• Must identify all unsafe working conditions and not proceed with work if it endangers the technician, other workers, customers, and/or the public.
• Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
• Meet the quality standards to satisfy customer needs.
• Apply due diligence ensuring accuracy in preparing and promptly completing all necessary documentation, equipment log and FLHA.
• Assists with construction clean-up as necessary.
• And any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license minimum Class 5, clean abstract, and own vehicle.
• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred.
• Physically fit and able to bend, kneel, climb, and lift (up to 75 lbs).
• Prior experience in buried telecommunication construction.
• Knowledge of utility depths and placements.
• Possess general knowledge of construction practices.
• Experience working with Telecommunication Fibre Optic and Coax installation.
• Ability to drive trucks and trailers as required.
• Mechanically inclined.
• Strong work ethic.
• Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) if required.

Work Conditions

• Ability to work in various environments/settings with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Equipped to work in excavations, manholes and tunnels
• Prepared to sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach and lift for long periods of time
• Able to lift to 75 lbs.
• Valid Canadian Driver’s License
• Over time, as required.
• Able to work in various locations in western Canada
