The Billing and Treasury Clerk is primarily responsible for organizing, processing and recording information related to financial transactions for OHIP, Greenshield and Immigration for the purposes of receiving payments for services provided by MLW. Under the direction of the Billing Supervisor, this position is responsible to oversee the Self-pay services and tracking funds received. This position is required to communicate clearly with internal and external personnel as means to obtain information required for invoicing, receiving payment, and problem solving.
Education:
- College Diploma, preferably with accounting background.
- Accounting/Administrative/Bookkeeping principles and an accounting background would be considered a strong asset.
- Participates in continuing education programs.
Skills:
- Excellent computer literacy of Microsoft Excel. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office: Word, Outlook, Power Point.
- Familiar with pertinent accounting legislation, regulations and generally accepted accounting practices.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Pleasant, courteous and professional manner and ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment with excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure, to multi-task and to re-prioritize tasks on a daily basis.
- Excellent documentation and time management skills, with the ability to problem-solve issues.
- Ability to understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; flexibility and adaptability working with data utilizing defined but different processes, including strong audit capabilities.
- Demonstrated high attention to detail.
- Numeric data entry speed and accuracy including ability to perform basic math skills.
Experience:
- Minimum 1 years’ experience in a general office setting, with a healthcare setting given preference.
- Problem solving using available resources, understanding when to escalate problems that are beyond the scope of the position.
- Office practices, operating office equipment, and use of applicable various software and technology.
