What is the opportunity?

RBC’s data is a critical enterprise asset which is as valuable as its financial and human assets. Data empowers RBC’s business decisions and insights, and must be managed in a way that ensures its quality, timeliness, protection and availability.

As an Associate Director, Data Analysis and Process Architecture with the Finance and Risk Data Management Office (FRDMO), your focus will be on Data and Process analysis. You will gain an understanding about where data originates, how data flows and gets transformed, who uses the data, for what purpose, what type of processes are supported by the data, analyze the processes and improve them. You will learn how data is obtained and used through its lifecycle, analyze processes and develop metrics to identify underlying patterns for improvement. Your analysis and findings will be used to improve a business process or impact a business decision.


What will you do?

  • Create process maps and data flows. Understand data in the context of processes that use/consume them.
  • Study process and data related issues, perform Root Cause Analysis, define business problem and recommend solution using a structured approach.
  • Analyze data models and perform Data analysis using analytics tools. Present findings and conclusions to management.
  • Collaborate with FRDMO teams, Risk, Finance and IT groups on cross-functional dependencies and execution of overall data strategy
  • Partner with project managers to define work effort as well as discuss project status, Risks, KPIs etc.


What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • 8+ years of professional work experience, with 3+ years’ experience working in a data-rich industry (Banking, Insurance, Retail, etc.).
  • Understanding of Database structures and use of SQL/Python to read/extract data, and perform data analysis.
  • Experience in creating Process flow diagrams, Business Requirement Documents and understanding of Data Models.
  • Experience of creating and tracking Project Plans
  • University degree in any field


Nice to have:

  • Experience in Banking/Capital Markets domain
  • Experience of managing project lifecycle using tools like JIRA
  • Knowledge and experience of Agile, Six Sigma methodologies
