Job Description
Location(s): Calgary Status: Full time, Permanent Job Purpose: Assess workers for any pre-existing musculoskeletal injuries or health conditions that may lead to further injury to themselves or others on the work site. To evaluate a worker’s strength, conditioning, and use of proper lifting technique as it relates to the physical demands of the position they are applying for. Working Conditions
Hours: Monday to Friday between 7:00am – 6:00pm, some evenings and weekends
Travel: Occasional travel to other SureHire locations for coverage
Physical Environment: Office environment
Job Summary & Duties Fitness-to-Work
Review a worker’s health and injury history, blood pressure measurement, PAR-Q, functional status and medical condition questionnaire to ensure they are safe to exercise
Perform a full-body musculoskeletal evaluation, including grip strength testing, to identify any pre-existing conditions (“Medical”)
Observe and instruct a worker through SureHire’s lifting protocol ensuring that workers are using proper lifting technique (“Critical Strength & Mobility Testing”)
Follow SureHire’s Immediate Medical and Physical stoppages to ensure that workers are not proceeding with further testing, if deemed unsafe
Occupational Testing
Conduct a variety of occupational testing services
Urine analysis
Breath alcohol
Vision
Audio (optional)
Spirometry (optional)
Mask Fitting (optional)
Client Intake (optional)
Additional duties & tasks when assigned Job Specifications: Education:
Entry-level clinical degree (physiotherapist, chiropractor, athletic therapist)

Experience:
Assessing and treating musculoskeletal injuries is an asset
Assessing and treating occupational injuries is an asset
Direct patient care is an asset
Exercise testing and proper lifting mechanics is an asset

Formal training/certifications/licences:
Physiotherapist: PT or MSc.PT; successful completion of the Physiotherapy Competency Exam (PCE); registered with the College of Physical Therapists of Alberta
Chiropractor: Graduate of an accredited Chiropractic College; successful completion of the Canadian Chiropractic Examining Board (CCEB) clinical competency exam; registered with the Alberta College and Association of Chiropractors
Athletic Therapist: CAT (C) designation (post-secondary); successful completion of the Canadian Athletic Therapy National Certification exam; registered with the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association
Physician: Completion of a medical degree from an accredited school; registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

Required competencies/knowledge/skills/abilities:
Knowledge of human anatomy
Knowledge of musculoskeletal pathology and treatment
Knowledge of safe lifting mechanics
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with participants and co-workers
Excellent organizational and time management skill
Ability to work in a team environment and direct others
Skills in conflict resolution is an asset
Ability to remain calm in event of upset participant
