A division of Gardewine, Moving & Storage, with locations in Winnipeg, Brandon and Thunder Bay, specializes in local, long distance, and international residential and commercial moves, as well as storage and warehousing is looking for a General Manager – Moving & Storageto join the team.

The General Manager – Moving & Storage (Brandon, Thunder Bay & Winnipeg) will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations of all local Moving & Storage / Allied & North American Van Line applications. Reporting to Director – Dedicated Logistics, this position will oversee all sales and operational aspects of Moving & Storage operations in Brandon, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure a positive customer experience from all levels of operations that deliver service standard
  • Optimize equipment & personnel resource levels at all branches to achieve desired business results
  • Arrange and lead weekly sales meeting for all sales and branch management staff
  • Oversee operating costs are rightsized with revenue to achieve profitability targets
  • Oversee and support all sales and operations staff
  • Support corporate health & safety initiatives for the safety of all drivers, customers and other terminal employees by following all safety policies and procedures including the incident reporting system
  • Working with the Director in leading all advertising and marketing activities of the Brandon, Thunder Bay and Winnipeg branches
  • Ensure adequate employee training programs are in place and are consistent with the principles of the corporate Human Resources department
  • Track sales activities and prepare sales & revenue KPI reports
  • Ensure direction and goals of moving & storage operations align with corporate strategic goals
  • Adjust hourly tariff rate tables based on seasonal fluctuations in supply and demand
  • Provide job-site operational consultation to commercial / residential move crews when needed
  • Assist in the quoting of commercial moves and commercial RFP’s when required
  • Work to increase revenue through the coordination of additional weekend moving jobs
  • Schedule facility and vehicle maintenance as needed and required
  • Effectively manage labour cost
  • Ensure all move related documents flow to WMS accounting team to ensure timely billing
  • Assist operations manager in acting as corporate liaison with Allied / North American Van Lines to ensure good relations are maintained.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Is responsible for leading, managing and supervising Brandon, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg - Moving & Storage department and team members.

Qualification
Ideally you have five years management / supervisory experience, ideally in the Moving & Storage sector or in a similar supply chain related application. High school diploma or equivalent with good math, language, technology and reading skills.
