We are currently looking for a Water Tank Tester to join our busy and growing manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be engaged in elevating the department and company to the next level. The incumbent will be forward looking and thrive in a culture of continuous improvement.

General Accountability:

Reporting directly to the Production Supervisor, the Water Tank Tester will provide critical assistance to the pressure body and module assembly process by completing the water testing stage of assembly, and general support of assigned functions within the department.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Assembles, installs, modifies, and repairs fittings and parts of various types of gas meters, plugs, and other parts, according to specifications
  • Install the metal guard to eliminate any safety issues from TC Well
  • Install test fittings and fixtures, attach flanges in the inlet and outlet of the meters with the pressure pipe
  • Use the Overhead crane to move parts to the Testing Tank
  • Tighten the Pressure Valve
  • Lift the meter using the hoist, and dip it in the Testing Tank
  • Apply Testing Pressure (100 psi then 300 psi)
  • Leak Inspection by dipping the meter in the Testing Tank for 2 minutes and closely observe through the window to find the source of leaks, and if any bubble(s) are escaping from the meter
  • If no bubbles are present, then release the applied pressure, lift, and clean the meter
  • Apply the inspection stamp on the flange of the meter
  • Complete the handover of the meter to the next stage for either painting or proving
  • If bubbles are present during the water test, then release the applied pressure, lift, and clean the meter, locate, and identify with markings the position of the leak(s) and/or replace the part at the source of the leak
  • Repeat the water test of the meter as needed or required
  • All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Must be able to use various inspection hand and air tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be a self-starter
  • Poses excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Must be computer literate - Microsoft applications, Exposure to MRP would be an asset
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be dexterous and able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. (with assisted devices and lifting tools)

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma with Community College Certificate/Diploma or Manufacturing/Mechanical preferred
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Problem solving and Root Cause Analysis training, exposure, or experience
  • Lean Manufacturing training and experience an asset
