MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate Material Handling Equipment such as the Clamp and move material through the facility as required as well as offload and reload trailers.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment moving product via a clamp or dolly.
  • Moving product to correct locations by reading & scanning labels
  • Ensure tasks get done on-time and accurately
  • Scan product to sublocation using an RF Handheld
  • Skid Product when required.
  • Actively communicate with supervisors and colleagues to effectively handle material and notify them of problems/concerns
  • Properly document work performed, fill out all required check list.
  • Assist in the effective completion of warehouse dock searches.
  • Ensuring the warehouse is kept tidy and clean.
  • Demonstrate respect for the organization’s values on a daily basis, while maintaining and upholding company policies & procedures
  • Other duties as required.
HEALTH & SAFETY:
  • Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act including Safety, Violence and Harassment laws
  • Work in a healthy and safe manner following Metro’s policies, procedures
  • Always wear or use protective equipment
  • Report any hazards you find in the workplace to your supervisor
  • Must not use or operate equipment in a manner that would endanger yourself or others
  • Must not put other workers at risk by your actions
EDUCATION:
  • Some High School, preferably a High School Diploma
EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 1-year warehouse experience operating material handling equipment
  • 1 year or more of operator experience and certification with proven track record for safety
  • Experience with a RF scanner
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Proven communication both written and verbal
  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, lifting to 50lbs boxes comfortable with physical work
  • Service orientated with strong customer service skills and commitment to quality of work
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Strong team player, but also able to work effectively independently
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills - able to follow instructions
  • Organized and shows strong attention to detail
