Adjacent to Victoria on southern Vancouver Island, School District No. 62 (Sooke) is the fastest growing school district on Vancouver Island and one of the fastest growing districts in BC. The District operates in five municipalities: Langford, Colwood, Metchosin, Sooke and the Highlands and acknowledges the traditional territories of the Coast Salish: T’Sou-ke Nation and Scia’new Nation and Nuu-chah-nulth: Pacheedaht Nation. We also recognize some of our schools reside on the traditional territory of Esquimalt Nation and Songhees Nation. Vice Principal – École John Stubbs Memorial School

Start Date: January 1, 2023

École John Stubbs Memorial is a single track Elementary (K-5) and Middle (6-8) French Immersion School and is situated in the District of Colwood on DND land and serves a large population of military families. École John Stubbs Memorial School has just over 800 students and has the motto - Ensemble on peut tout faire – Together, we can achieve anything. The Principal role is a key leadership position and is responsible for the operation of a school in a manner that promotes optimum student learning and fosters an inclusive and welcoming environment. We are looking for candidates that:

If you posses the above qualities, please submit a cover letter and resume outlining your education and experience in the following areas:

Completion or near completion of a Masters’ Degree in Education or related field

A Bachelor’s Degree in Education

A valid BC teaching certificate or eligibility for certification with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch

A minimum of five (5) years of recent and exemplary teaching experience preferably in K to 8 demonstrating knowledge and understanding of the unique needs and characteristics of students at the Elementary and Middle school levels

A high degree of fluency in French

Minimum of two years experience teaching in a French Immersion setting demonstrating knowledge and understanding of second language teaching and the French Immersion context

Experience in fostering inclusive education including incorporating Indigenous education into learning activities for all students

Experience leading and teaching in a unionized public-school setting using the BC curriculum preferred

In addition to clearly demonstrating the above, you must also include the names of two references which must include your immediate supervisor as well as one other reference who can speak to your leadership skills. Other references may be contacted with your prior permission.
