Job Summary:

Broan-NuTone has an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Supervisor to help achieve our mission of Better Air, Better Life. The Transportation Supervisor will have a primary focus around planning, carrier performance and driving execution through routines and rituals. Duties will consist of inbound/outbound shipment coverage, communication with carriers, sites and cross functional stakeholders. Owns specific site and carrier performance metrics and will coordinate carrier meetings and facilitate operational communication with carrier base and stakeholders as needed.

This position will mainly work within Transportation Operations but will have frequent interactions with the entire end to end supply chain including Logistics, Customer Supply Chain, Planning and Finance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage all communications with key internal and external customers (eg customer service, sales & marketing, manufacturing, purchasing, DC, carrier sales, carrier terminal). Negotiate “win-win” solutions.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with carriers that support all modes of transportation in North America.
  • Track and manage carrier KPI’s and work with carriers to achieve adequate levels of performance.
  • Perform first level of carrier contract and rate negotiations.
  • Perform transportation cost analysis to support other projects (eg product launches, new customers, mode selection, freight term changes).
  • Perform carrier and 3PL RFQ’s.
  • Support transportation financial reporting and development of forecasts.
  • Manage route guides to support low cost carrier selection that meets customer requirements.
  • Identify carrier to handle expedited service requests.
  • Maintain dual sourcing strategy, especially in key supply and distribution lanes.
  • Proactively recognize changes in lane characteristics and develop solutions to mitigate before they happen.
  • Monitor daily carrier pick-up performance, identify root cause of failures, and work with DC and carrier to obtain acceptable level of OTC performance.
  • Support continuous maintenance freight class and NMFC assignment to items for proper freight costing.
  • Manage freight loss and damage claims.
  • Develop and execute all operational bid activities for Intermodal, Truckload, LTL and Parcel
  • Planning of all NA inbound and outbound freight within routing guide parameters
  • Support and assist in creation of internal and external development of SOP’s, training, KPI metrics and continuous improvement ideas.
  • Develop process to budget and forecast Freight spend for multiple lanes and transportation modes.
  • Analyze spend variation (actual vs forecast) monthly.
  • Determine causes of variation and identify potential corrective actions.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, logistics or related field or equivalent experience in logistics/transportation.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the transportation and logistics areas of the supply chain.
  • Proven ability to communicate and develop customer and supplier relationships.
  • Experience negotiating carrier contracts and price addendums.
  • Proven analytic skills using data to identify opportunities, validate analysis, with subsequent successful capability to drive change.
  • High degree of understanding and skills in transportation financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with use of Lean concepts and continuous improvement.
  • Proven background and use of ERP Systems with specific focus on TMS & WMS.
  • Solid understanding and proficient use of PC and Microsoft applications with focus on Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, professionalism, accountability, positive “can-do” attitude.
