We are currently seeking an experienced Transportation/Planning Engineer to join our Transportation practice in Calgary. This position offers the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to deliver highway and roadway designs.


Your Role:

  • Partake/lead project delivery for transportation infrastructure planning
  • Deliver roadway and transit strategic, concept, and functional planning as well as design projects encompassing all stages of planning/design, in line with client expectations, timeliness, budgets, and Tetra Tech quality standards
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in multi-disciplinary planning for complex urban transportation infrastructure projects
  • Lead initiatives related to: urban interchange and arterial roadway planning and functional design, with connections to high standard roadways, municipal urban road design and complex intersections, interchanges analysis
  • Complete preliminary and detailed designs using Autodesk Civil 3D for transportation (roads and highways) projects
  • Complete senior level design reviews on transportation projects with multi-disciplinary components
  • Coordinate project design teams involved in transportation planning and design work
  • Prepare transportation engineering reports
  • Assist with and coordinate the development of proposals
  • Development of accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules, and deliverables for high quality project execution
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to other team members
  • Liaise with all discipline team members, subconsultants, clients, and other stakeholders/agencies
  • Build and maintain functional relationships with existing and potential clients
  • Participate in business development activities for the Transportation practice

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of 15+ years related experience in highway geometric design on transportation projects and experience carrying out municipal roadway designs. Complex urban interchange experience considered an asset
  • Must be registered (or eligible for registration) with APEGA
  • Design-Build and P3 design experience considered an asset
  • Proven experience with TAC and Provincial Geometric Design Standards and Guidelines
  • Proven experience with Autodesk Civil 3D design software
  • Proven capabilities in writing proposals, reports, and other technical documents
  • Background/understanding of traffic modeling software and analysis outputs
  • Working experience with bridge design and construction considered an asset
  • Possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management skills
  • Proven experience with municipal transportation projects a must
  • Previous transit and LRT planning, design and construction experience considered an asset
  • Experience or aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, proposal writing, client development, and other skills appropriate to consulting
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work well as a part of a team

Additional Information
A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

Some Tetra Tech positions require an additional enhanced level of background assessment, which is dictated by law. A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on all pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required. As this position may be serving clients who have COVID-19 vaccination requirements for site access, we will be confirming your eligibility to comply with this requirement.
