Your opportunity

Dillon’s Transportation technical group is looking for an Engineer-In-Training or Civil Engineering Technologistto join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

Responsibilities:
What your day will look like
Design and Project Coordination
  • Assist project managers with coordination of transportation projects
  • Assist in the design of transportation projects including:
    • Preliminary and Detailed design
    • Engineering studies
    • Technical specifications
    • Design calculations
  • Transportation drafting using CADD software
  • Assist with site investigations and condition assessments
  • Complete review of safe work practices and perform risk assessments
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including engineers, planners, environmental scientists, engineering technologists and administrative support staff
Business Development
  • Contribute to business development activities including client need research, preparation of project proposals and presentations
  • Participation in the Early Career Development program
Learning and Development
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed
  • A degree in civil or transportation engineering or a diploma in civil engineering technology
  • Licensed to practice as an engineer-in-training in the province of Ontario, or eligible to be licensed within six months or registered as a civil engineering technologist in the province of Ontario or eligible to be registered within six months
  • One to two years’ work experience with exposure to consulting is considered an asset, however, new graduates will be considered
Experience:
  • Knowledge of relevant municipal/provincial engineering standards and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of industry standards, specifications and good engineering practices
  • Understand project design and implementation activities, including: development of design drawings and reports, contract document preparation, tendering and contract administration
  • Proficient in the use of current AutoCAD software; working knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, OpenRoads Designer or InRoads software will be considered an asset
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization and interpersonal skills
