Youth will work full time - 35 hours per week including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Tourism Information Officer will:
· Enthusiastically assist visitors with inquiries, helping to promote Stratford and area attractions, events, and businesses
· Provide directions to local businesses, events, and attractions, assist with accommodation information and direct people to box office or online booking engines for booking theatre tickets etc.
· Sell items such as culinary trails, Visit Stratford tote bags and Downtown Dollars gift certificates
· Ensure Al Fresco areas are properly cleaned and sanitized
· Possibly be involved in actively helping partner tourism-related events, festivals and attractions to welcome visitors to Stratford. Potential examples include Stratford Summer Music, Stratford Perth Museum, Gallery Stratford etc.
· Provide support by capturing imagery and content for use on digital channels
· Demonstrate exceptional knowledge of Stratford and area
· Take pride in maintaining inventories and ensuring a tidy and engaging welcome centre
· Collect and input statistical information and update heritage, dining, accommodation etc. information on our website.
· Assist the Marketing team on Marketing initiatives and projects

Skills:
· Proficient in Microsoft Office/Internet research/Social Media
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Superior spelling and grammar
· Outstanding interpersonal skills
· Ability to work well independently
· Exceptional problem solving and organizational skills
· Secondary language(s) are an asset

Location: 47 Downie Street/Downtown Stratford and along the Avon River
Term: May 27, 2024 - August 25, 2024 (date is subject to change)

Requirements: This position is funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) grant and is dependent on grant approval.

To meet funding requirements, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria set by the Government of Canada:
· The youth must be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
· Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
· Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
