Temporary Mine Engineer - (Rocanville, Saskatchewan, Canada)

The Temporary Mine Engineer reports to the Chief Mine Engineer.

This Temporary position is for 24 months.

The Mine Engineering department is responsible for mine design, scheduling and planning, geology, ventilation, rock mechanics, and ground control. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in these areas of responsibility.

The Temporary position is for 18 months.

What You Will Do
  • Operate in various roles through a rotational development program
  • Complete tasks in support of mine operations in various capacities
  • Be responsible for long and short-range mine design, reporting on mine Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and developing schedules in various time horizons that are aligned to the operational strategy for the mine
  • Complete proactive designs, identification of capital requirements, and assisting in short term troubleshooting to ensure the mine is able to operate reliably
  • Provide long term geotechnical support to assist with mine design and planning as well as operations field support for addressing ground hazards that can develop in the underground environment
  • Supervise employees and external contractors
  • Work on cross-functional team projects for the mine
  • Identify and manage operational, capital and business improvement requirements to execute mine development and production activities
What You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Eligible for membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Saskatchewan
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in underground operating mine sites (preferred)
  • Technical proficiency in Rock Mechanics
  • Technical proficiency in Mine Ventilation
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCad, Amine, or alternate drafting and mining software
  • Proficiency with mine planning software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods
  • Retain a positive attitude and customer focused approach
  • Ability to prioritize and work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to lead and develop people
  • Ability to provide coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to work underground
