TECHNOLOGIST (Application Engineering)

Purpose

The goal of the Technologist is to design, develop, document, and modify mechanical subsystems and assembly configurations for customized ultrasonic inline inspection robot according to customer pipeline specifications. The role provides a link between multiple locations and departments, ensuring coordinated and timely engineering support

Responsibilities
  • Specifies the robot setup for the requested pipeline inspection as well as creates its required documentation (e.g. job drawing, bill of materials) for all Regions globally
  • Verifies configuration documents of ILI robots based on pipeline specific requirements for global inline inspection projects
  • Provides technical direction and creates drawings and documentation as needed to aid assembly, testing, handling, and all relevant operational conditions for the pipeline inspection project
  • Performs feasibility and passage capability assessments based on client’s asset descriptions
  • Acts as internal interface between local Regions and global Application Engineering for all technical questions
  • Releases assigned configuration documents of ILI robots based on pipeline specific requirements for global inline inspection projects
  • Validates the robot build after the final assembly to ensure qualification for pipeline inspections prior to mobilization
  • Verifies results and assists with tests that are executed during job preparation to consistently ensure highest quality for the ILI inspection
  • Identifies oppor tunities and contributes to global standardization, processes, and documentation and/or technical improvements
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education
  • Associate or equivalent degree (min. two-year) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or related education is preferred

Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in Mechanical Engineering as a Technician OR minimum of 3 years of experience in on site or in house working with our NDT Robots is required
  • Experience in creating technical drawings and documentation is required
  • Experience in an international and culturally diverse environment is preferred
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English as well as the local language

  • Works in a general office environment
  • Occasional work in the shop/field environment
  • Occasional work in outdoor weather conditions (hot, wet, cold)
  • Occasional work near moving mechanical parts and near mechanical and environmental noise
  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel
