ACCIONA Canada is looking to hire a Structures Engineer – Design & Construction Support for our Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project.

The Structures Engineer will provide technical leadership to the project team drawing upon extensive specialist expertise and experience. The role will be responsible for ensuring that all technical requirements are met in all design functions related to the project.

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsibility for the coordination and review of the design packages, RFIs, shop drawings, temporary works, ITP, construction support, etc.
• Liaise with the procurement departments, providing technical input and support in the commercial meetings, and reviewing technical design components (including bearings, joints, steel structures, etc.).
• Review the submission and the constructability of the design, documenting project issues and conditions in order to ensure their validity in compliance with technical engineering requirements.
• Liaise with the Independent Checker for Permanent/Temporary Works.
• Manage correspondence between the consultant, client, subcontractors, and other third parties, obtaining feedback from the technical engineering team.
• Coordinate all the temporary and auxiliary works with the permanent design during design stage.
• Coordinate shop drawings review and submission to Designers/Client.
• Assist the Design Manager with commercial issues related to the designers and provide claims support as required.
• Lead the analysis of technical alternatives liaising with the Planner, Chief Estimator, Construction Department and others, as required.
• Coordinate and review Work Method Statements in conjunction with Design & Construction Team.
• Attend progress meetings, discuss and suggest technical proposals.
• Coordinate between the construction and engineering teams ensuring that the construction requirements are conveyed to the engineering teams and that the engineering deliverables satisfy the construction requirements.
• Maintaining organized and detailed project records. Coordinate and assist in preparation of Construction Completion documentation.

Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree equivalent in civil engineering or a directly related program.
• 10 years of experience design and construction of structural elements on major bridges, viaducts and related structures.
